Exclusive: Paul Giamatti in Talks to Play Stalker Role in Big-screen Version of DeLillo's Cosmopolis

We spoke to Paul Giamatti this morning after The Playlist reported that he was mulling a role in David Cronenberg's adaptation of Don DeLillo's Cosmopolis. Giamatti confirmed that he was very high on the project and had been approached to play one of the mysterious men who stalk the sudden billionaire protagonist, Erick Packer (to be played by Colin Farrell).  "I'd love to do that," said Giamatti, adding that he had read the script with an eye toward playing one of the villains. "If it happens, I'd love to be in it."

The project's fate will likely remain ambiguous until Cronenberg finishes post-production on his adaptation of John Kerr's A Most Dangerous Method, about the birth of psychoanalysis and the Freud-Jung rivalry, starring Viggo Mortensen as Freud and Michael Fassbender as Jung.
