The Paladin Prophecy Set for the Screen; Reliance, Kintop Acquire the Rights

The Paladin Prophecy, a young adult trilogy by Mark Frost, hasn’t even been released yet but work on the first movie is already underway. The first book of the series is due out this fall and the film is already slated for a 2014 release. Reliance Entertainment and Kintop Pictures acquired the film rights to the trilogy and they’re wasting no time getting to work on their seven-figure investment.

The Paladin Prophecy is about a boy named Will West who wants nothing more than to blend in with everyone else. The only problem is that he possesses unusual abilities that, if revealed, could bring some unwanted attention to him and his family. When Will scores exceptionally high on a national exam, that attention comes flooding in and his life is changed forever.

Author Mark Frost will write the screenplay for and executive produce the first film in the trilogy. Frost is known best for co-creating “Twin Peaks” but has plenty of experience in screenwriting, with the adaptation of his book The Greatest Game Ever Played filling a spot on his resume. No other news regarding a director or casting has been released as of yet. The biggest challenge will most likely be filling the role of Will West as they need someone young enough to play the role now -- but can keep that air of youth (à la Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter) as the rest of the films in the series are subsequently released.
