Enter Signature’s Short Memoir Contest – Win Julia Child Gift Package!

Kitchen Catastrophe Short Memoir Contest

Julia Child, the woman who changed the way America cooks and eats, was born 100 years ago this month. As part of the worldwide celebration of her centennial, Signature is hosting a short memoir writing contest with a grand prize Julia Child gift package!

The theme of the contest is:

"What's Your Funniest Kitchen Catastrophe?"

We love Julia for her determination to keep it real and enjoy herself in the kitchen, even when disaster struck in the form of dropping a potato pancake mid-flip on television, as depicted by Meryl Streep in "Julie & Julia," the 2009 film inspired by Julie Powell's memoir by the same name. Even when the going got tough, Julia forged ahead, proving that perfection doesn't always start as such. So go ahead -- and tell us about your own kitchen catastrophe.

All five finalists in our contest will receive a copy of Bob Spitz's comprehensive biography "Dearie: The Remarkable Life of Julia Child," published today by Random House.

The Editorial Winner will receive "Dearie" and the foolproof "Mastering the Art of French Cooking Boxed Set" by Julia Child.

The People's Choice Winner will receive:
